Fisher Wallace – Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation – Days 2.18, 2.19

Day 2.18 (Sat->Sun)

Conflating Variables

  • I exercised for nearly three hours, I was struggling with some depression.
  • I did preparations for Sunday morning, which while I enjoy can also be intense.
  • I used the CES both morning and night.

Results

  • FitBit reports that I was “in bed” for 8 hrs. 25 mins and slept for 8 hrs. 4 min. (normal).
    • It took me 3 min. to fall asleep (quick).
    • I was awoken ten times (low average).
    • Sleep efficiency was 96% (high normal).
  • Depression and anxiety where higher than usual, I spent a significant amount of time exercising due to inability to focus from anxiety/depression. I don’t know that the exercise makes any change in how I feel, but it is a fairly brainless way to pass the time and more productive than watching TV (though I oftentimes watch TV while exercising).

Day 2.19

Conflating Variables

  • I used CES both morning and evening.
  • I exercised for two hours.
  • I had church, finger food fellowship, and a planning committee meeting.

Results

  • FitBit reports an 89% sleep efficiency (low).
    • I was “in bed” for 8 hrs. 40 min. but slept for 7 hrs. 41 min. (poor).
    • It took me 3 min. to fall asleep (quick).
    • I was awoken 24 times (high).
  • Subjectively, I was fine waking up and throughout church and the meetings thereafter. I began to experience increased depression in the afternoon. In the evening I noted in my time journal for the first time in a long time “depressed” as my “activity” for a period of time (relatively short – 45 mins.).
  • Overall, there are some life stressors and uncertainty right now that are placing some extra pressure on me – so I’d consider these changes in mood to be related external influences – and thus likely to subside. In other words, part of the usual experience of life as felt by most people and not related to clinical depression/anxiety.
